appearance the Kikuyu use body paints extensively
for ceremonies and practice scarification. The
Iingoma or dances are used to attract the opposite
sex. The dancers cover their bodies in white clay
believing it reflects the ray of the sun giving them
strength to perform longer. The Kikuyu also wear the
traditional Thumbi or headdress made from monkey
fur.

The Immortals are:
Immortal Woman He (He Xiangu), Royal Uncle Cao (Cao
Guojiu), Iron-Crutch Li (Li Tieguai), Lan Caihe, Lü

Philosopher Han Xiang (Han Xiang Zi), Elder Zhang
Guo (Zhang Guo Lao), and The Eight Immortals are
considered to be signs of prosperity and longevity,
so they are popular themes in ancient art..
The artwork of the Eight Immortals isn’t limited to

playwrights wrote numerous stories and plays about
The Eight Immortals. One famous story that has been
